Yard vs. Meter
The most common comments that we receive from our customers and enthusiasts is I wish your yarn meter measures both yards and meters. Our answer to them usually is Yes – Our yarn meter does measure both yards and meters. We have been telling our customers that every two turn measures one yard. So to get an accurate measurement of your yarn, you must divide final number shown on the counter by 2 and it will tell you the exact measurement in yards. As we know that 1 yard equals to 0.457 meters. That means every turn our yarn meter makes it measures 1/2 yard or 0.457 meter of yarn. All you have to do is to multiply final numbers by 0.457 and it will tell you the length in meters. For example:
Let’s say you measured a fine baby fingering yarn for your weaving project. You run your yarn through our yarn meter and counter gives you 8769 at the end.
8769 X 0.457 = 4007.43 meters
8769 X 1/2 = 4384.5 yards
